Chapter 13:20-14:22 Job Speaks to God

Methods of dealing with mean people
1. Appraisal
a. Consider their complaints
b. Understand them
c. Realize that they probably won’t change
2. Avoidance
d. Ignore them if you’ll never see them again
e. Live with it if it’s not too big of a deal
3. Appeasement
f. Give them what they want
g. Let them vent every once in a while
4. Attack
h. Fight back if it’s a hill you’re willing to die on
i. Bluntly tell them why they’re wrong
j. Expose them
k. Be careful that you don’t become what they were
Remember. Speak the truth IN LOVE (Ephesians 4:15). Do what you have to do, but with GENTLENESS AND RESPECT (1 Peter 3:15). Mean people are real people. Jesus died for them too. Treat them as such. You may be surprised what you discover. It's like Dorothy discovering that the Wizard of Oz is nothing more than a small man with a microphone hiding behind a screen.
