CHAPTER 1
1-3 The Address
The first three verses are written in the THIRD Person
The flow is God (the Father) to Jesus to an angel to John to the CHURCH
The PHRASES ‘must soon take place’ and ‘the time is near’ are controversial
The first of SEVEN beatitudes appears in verse 3
1. You’ll be blessed if you read/apply the book of Revelation (1:3)
2. You’ll be blessed if you die in the Lord (14:13)
3. You’ll be blessed if you stay alert (16:15)
4. You’ll be blessed if you’re invited to the wedding supper (19:9)
5. You’ll be blessed if you’re part of the first resurrection (20:6)
6. You’ll be blessed if you keep the words of the prophecy (22:7)
7. You’ll be blessed if you wash your robe (22:14)
4-11 The Introduction
This is a TYPICAL introduction for an epistle (grace and peace)
This letter was probably PASSED from church to church
The TRINITY is seen in 4-5

Someone like a son of man= Jesus
A robe reaching down to his feet= Royalty/Priestly
A golden sash around his chest= Divine/Authority
Head and hair white like wool/snow= Wisdom/Honor
Eyes like a blazing fire= Vision/Discernment
Feet like bronze glowing= Judgment/Authority
Voice like sound of rushing waters= Power/Authority
Right hand held seven stars= Sovereignty/Ministry
Sharp, double-edged sword out his mouth= Words/Judgment
Face like the sun shining= Divinity/Glory
John’s response= Humility (similar to Daniel's response)
