Bad Beginnings
1. Unity is only as good as its cause
2. God told them to spread out, but man decided to settle
3. The rewards of disobedience are short-lived

Bad Motives
1. They wanted a city for themselves
2. They wanted a name for themselves
3. They didn’t want to be scattered

Bad Result
1. God had to ‘come down’ to see their tower
2. God, in His grace, broke their unity
3. False religion was taken to the ends of the earth
The Line of Shem

1. Eber- From whom we get the term ‘Hebrew’
2. Peleg- In his time the earth was divided
3. Terah- Took his family toward Canaan

God’s Reversal of Babel

God’s Plan
1. God chose Abram to bring the world back together (Genesis 12)
2. The whole world can be blessed through Abram’s seed (Galatians 3)
3. The whole world can be united by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2)
