James 4:11-5:12
11-12 DO NOT JUDGE
1. Do not slander your brother
a. Implies that your brother is living rightly
b. If you do, you are breaking the law of love
2. Do not judge
a. As soon as you judge, you yourself are breaking the law
b. As soon as you judge, you are making yourself out to be God
3. Then why does the rest of the NT consist of judgments?
13-16 DO NOT ASSUME
1. Don’t assume you have tomorrow to plan for
2. Recognize that God is in control
3. It’s not really the words, it’s the mindset
a. If you don’t use the words it may be evidence you don’t have the mindset
1-6 DO NOT OPPRESS THE POOR
1. They were still rich, but their riches were as good as gone
2. Do not hoard
3. Do not underpay for service
4. Do not live in self-indulgence
5. Probably indirect murder, but flatly called murder by God
7-11 DO NOT GRUMBLE
1. Do not be impatient
2. Do not grumble against each other
12 DO NOT SWEAR
1. Do not swear

ANYONE, THEN, WHO KNOWS THE GOOD HE OUGHT TO DO AND DOESN’T DO IT, SINS.
1. Kind of strange to find this verse in the midst of a bunch of DO NOT phrases
2. It’s giving us a TO DO list in comparison, The Bible never leaves us at STOP
a. DO LOVE EACH OTHER
b. DO DEPEND ON GOD
c. DO GIVE TO THE NEEDY
d. DO PATIENTLY ENDURE
e. DO BE HONEST
