Luke 5:1-4
1. Who did Jesus teach?
--Anyone who would listen, usually the poor/needy/hated
2. What did Jesus teach?
--The word of God, the kingdom, heart morality
3. Where did Jesus teach?
--Anywhere, countryside/city/synogogue/boat/inside
4. When did Jesus teach?
--Anytime there was opportunity
5. Why did Jesus teach?
--Because he was obedient to his father (4:43)
6. How did Jesus teach?
--He used relevant, illustrated lessons
Luke 5:5-11
1. How well did Simon understand the fishing industry?
--He was probably a career fishermen
2. Do you think Simon had met Jesus prior to this day?
--yes, it seems likely
3. Why do you think Jesus performed this miracle?
--To show his authority
4. How did the fishermen respond to Jesus’ miracle?
--humbled and astonished
5. How does Jesus tend to use people’s skills and abilities?
--added a spiritual twist. Fishermen became fishers of men. Tent makers became church planters. Net menders restored broken congregations
How to Hit the BULLSEYE as a Disciple
Believe in God for salvation. (John 2:22)
Utilize God’s Word for everyday living and growth. (John 8:31)
Live your life in submission to God.
Love God and others. (John 13:35)
Serve the Body with your time, talents, gifts, and resources. (Acts 11:29)
Experience intimacy with God.
Yield your rights, interests, and desires to others in humility.
Exchange your life for the Life of Christ within you. (Galatians 2:20)
