Luke 5:12-16
1. What is leprosy?
--A flesh disease of that time with no known cure
2. What can we discern about this man?
--He had a need, humility, and faith
3. Does Jesus want us to be healed?
--Yes, but the 'when' is up to him. (notice, he 'touched' the leper)
4. Why didn’t Jesus want the man to share the miracle with others?
--The focus was too 'physical', timing wasn't right
5. Did Jesus consider His miracles or His mission His top priority?
--Mission
Luke 5:17-26
1. Was Jesus able to heal the sick whenever He wanted to?
--No, he was a spirit filled man
2. What was so impressive about the faith of these men?
--their faith affected their effort
3. Why did Jesus forgive sins if the man was seeking healing?
--He knew the real problem
4. Why were the leaders so offended by Jesus words?
--Only God was allowed to forgive another man's sins. This was outrageous.
5. Why did Jesus do miracles?
--To prove his authority

1. Do you think this was the first time Jesus met Levi?
--I don't think so
2. How did the Pharisees occupy their time during Jesus’ ministry?
--They were obsessed with him
3. Why were the leaders so offended by Jesus actions?
--They were all about appearences
4. Was Jesus saying some people don’t need to repent?
--No. He's saying he could only help those who realize their need

1. Why didn’t Jesus’ disciples fast?
--Fasting is intended to help us focus on Jesus, for them, Jesus was present
2. Should we fast today?
--Can't hurt
3. What do these 2 brief parables teach us?
Characteristics of Old Covenant Keepers
Their focus is religious ritual instead of people
Their fasting is public instead of private
Their faith was measured by comparison instead of obedience
