Hosea: Part 2
Hosea
God’s Prophet of Love
Why was God bringing Israel to an end?
1. Israel turned to others for its needs
“I will go after my lovers who give me”
2. Israel turned worship into entertainment
“I will stop all her celebrations”
3. Israel broke their end of the covenant
“They break all bounds”
4. Israel rejected their extra blessings
“You have rejected knowledge”
5. Israel had corrupt leadership
“They feed on the sins of my people”
6. Israel practiced idolatry
“They consult a wooden idol”
7. Israel was stubborn
“Like a stubborn heifer”
8. Israel had a rebellious spirit
“A spirit of prostitution is in their hearts”
9. Israel put their trust in foreign kings
“Ephraim turned to Assyria”
10. Israel had fickle love
“Your love is like the morning mist”
11. Israel failed to view God as Judge
“They do not realize that I remember”
12. Israel was very hot tempered
“Their hearts are like an oven”
13. Israel was very ungrateful
“But they plot evil against me”
14. Israel became too institutional
“They set up kings without my consent”
15. Israel rejected good counsel
“The prophet is considered a fool”
16. Israel produced no lasting fruit
“They yield no fruit”
17. Israel was deceived by wealth
“He built more…he adorned”
18. Israel had a sense of self-sufficiency
“Depended on your own strength”
19. Israel chased the latest thrills
“Ephraim feeds on the wind”
20. Israel was a warning sign for Judah
“Let not Judah become guilty”
