Hosea
God’s Prophet of Love
Man’s Sick Cycle (Hosea 13:6)
1. When I fed them, they were satisfied
2. When they were satisfied, they became proud
3. Then they forgot me
God’s Great Gift of Grace
If God were only just, we’d simply be destroyed
If God were only merciful, we’d simply be spared
Since God is also graceful, we are also loved
1:10-2:1 Grace Explosion #1
1. Hosea seems to be saying that, in the future, the northern kingdom would re-united and restored
2. Hosea goes on, though, to show that the northern kingdom would be absorbed into the nations
3. Paul quotes this passage applying it not to the northern kingdom, but to the gentiles
4. In the light of the New Testament, this passage isn’t about national Israel, but the gentiles
5. Gentile believers & Jewish believers would unite
6. They united under the leadership of Jesus Christ

4. They would experience a new covenant
