Luke 9:21-26
Luke 9:21-26
The Cost of Christianity
What they expected
The Son of Man must conquer many things and be accepted by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must reign
What Jesus predicted
The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected
By the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life
1. People often envision their future
2. Life seldom works out as planned
3. We must be prepared for much suffering
4. God must see value in suffering
Jesus gives us a Job Description
If anyone would come after me…
1. They must deny themselves
2. They must take up their cross daily
3. They must follow me
4. They must not be ashamed of me
The Parodox of Faith
1. If you want to save your life, you must let go of it
2. If you don’t let go, you’ll eventually lose everything
