Luke 9:37-43
Luke 9:37-43
The Demonized Son
Assignment:
Describe your arrival to our class in a short paragraph. Be sure to
mention what the weather is like today, who (or how many) people were in the room when you got here, and anything else interesting that has happened since you walked into the room.
1. Were all the descriptions identical?
2. Were all the descriptions true?
3. Whose paper should we read in order to find out all the details?
4. Why do you think we’ve been given 4 ‘gospels’?
5. Whose gospel should we read in order to find out all the details?
Each Gospel writer gives us unique details
1. Only Luke tells us that this occurred the next day (9:37)
2. Only Mark tells us that there was an argument going on (9:14)
3. Each gospel tells us different information about the sons’ problems
a. Matthew: seizures and dangerous falls
b. Mark: inability to speak, falls, foaming at mouth, gnashing teeth, rigid
c. Luke: screaming sessions, convulsions, foaming at mouth, being destroyed
4. Only Mark gives us the conversation b/w Jesus and the father (9:20-24)
5. Only Mark gives detail about the actual deliverance (9:25)
6. Only Luke tells us about the crowds reaction (9:43)
7. Matthew gives more details about Jesus’ answer to his disciples (17:20-21)
***This lesson shows the importance of reading each of the paralel passages
