Luke 9:44-62
Luke 9:44-62 Mistakes Disciples Make
The Failures of Real and Potential Disciples
1. The Disciples couldn’t drive out the demon
(Matthew 17:19-21)
2. The Disciples didn’t understand Jesus’ prediction of death
(Luke 9:43-45)
3. The Disciples argued about who would be greatest
(Luke 9:46-48)
4. The Disciples forbid another to use Jesus’ name
(Luke 9:49-50)
5. The Samaritans rejected Jesus because of His culture
(Luke 9:51-53)
6. The Disciples asked to destroy the Samaritans
(Luke 9:54-56)
7. Potential Disciples come up with excuses to not follow Jesus
(Luke 9:57-62)
1. We sometimes fail to keep our faith current
2. We sometimes fail to see the value in suffering
3. We sometimes are too prideful
4. We sometimes are too exclusive
5. We sometimes place too much priority on our customs
6. We sometimes are too judgmental
7. We sometimes confuse our priorities
Because disciples are fallen people who sin & make mistakes
Jesus 'resolutely' set out for Jerusalem
Knowing what needed to be done
(Hebrews 12:2)
