The Many Response to Jesus

RESPONSE #1
UNBELIEF
Jesus was a Lunatic

When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." (Mark 3:21)

JESUS’ RESPONSE
1. Jesus kept the focus on his true family (Matthew 12:46-50)
2. Jesus spoke against ‘special’ attention to Mary (Luke 11:27-28)
3. Jesus admitted that the message was foolishness (1 Cor. 1:18-25, 2:14)

RESPONSE #2
ANGER
Jesus was a Liar

But some of them said, "By Beelzebub, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons." (Luke 11:15)

JESUS’ RESPONSE
1. That doesn’t make any sense (Luke 11:17-18)
2. He could use the same accusation against them (Luke 11:19)
3. Perhaps they are just afraid of admitting the truth (Luke 11:20)

RESPONSE #3
DOUBT
Jesus was a Legend

Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven (Luke 11:16)

JESUS’ RESPONSE
1. A wicked generation seeks after a miraculous sign (Luke 11:29a)
2. God does not reward unbelief (Luke 11:29b)
3. The evidence is there for those who are willing to see it (Luke 11:33-36)

RESPONSE #4
AMAZEMENT
Jesus was Lord

Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed (Luke 11:14)

OUR RESPONSE
1. Continue following Jesus
2. Be on guard against the other responses
3. Keep our spiritual eyes healthy
