The man = God
The banquet = Beginning of the Kingdom
The invited guests = Jews (especially leadership)
Time of the banquet = 1st Coming of Jesus
Excuses = Reasons for Rejecting Christ
Became angry = Judgment of 1st century Jews
Poor/Crippled/Blind/Lame = Jewish outcasts/Gentiles
Points to Ponder
1. God has invited us to take part in a celebration (14:16)
2. The Celebration is going on now (14:17)
3. Accepting the invitation is more than mere words (14:17)
4. Many reject the invitation (14:18-20)
5. There’s always something ‘new’ calling our attention (14:18-20)
6. The Invitation is also a command (14:21)
a. Some are self-employed
b. Some are pre-occupied
c. Some are already-taken
7. God wants the banquet to be full (14:23)

1. It means we don’t put any relationship before him (14:25-26)
2. It means we must be willing to pay the price (14:27-30)
3. It means we submit completely to Him (14:31-33)
4. It means we must endure through the end (14:34-35)
