Justification (8:1-4a)
The Sinfulness of Man
1. Wages war against you (7:23a)
2. Imprisons you (7:23b)
3. Makes you feel condemned (7:24a)
The Spirit of God
1. Wages war for you (7:22)
2. Sets you free (8:2)
3. Makes you feel convicted (John 16:8)
Sanctification (8:4b-14)
Living in the Flesh
1. Your mind is set on fleshly desires (8:5)
2. Your mind is hostile toward God (8:7)
3. Your mind is controlled by your flesh (8:8)
Living in the Spirit
1. Your mind is set on spiritual desires (8:5)
2. Your mind is at unity with the Spirit (8:12-14)
3. Your mind is controlled by the Spirit (8:9)
Glorification (8:15-30)
1. If we have received the Spirit, then we are sons of God (8:15)
2. If we are sons of God, then we are co-heirs with Christ (8:17)
3. If we are co-heirs, we’ll share in His sufferings for now (8:17b)
The Present Suffering
1. The future glory is beyond compare to the present suffering (8:18)
2. All of creation is involved in the present suffering (8:19-22)
3. All Christians are involved in the present suffering (8:23-25)
4. Prayer becomes a key amidst our present suffering (8:26-27)
5. Providence becomes a key amidst our present sufferings (8:28-30)
Final Conclusion: We are More than Conquerors (8:31-39)
1. If God is for us, who can be against us? (8:31)
2. Will He not give us all that we need? (8:32)
3. What could possibly separate us from God? (8:33-39)
