1. He stated their ‘common ground’
Some of his listeners were ‘fellow’ Jews
Some of his listeners were ‘fellow’ inhabitants
2. His goal was explanation
He recognized worldly confusion
He was ready with an explanation
3. He stressed the seriousness of the message
He commanded the careful attention of his listeners
He declared that the facts couldn’t be dismissed casually
4. He connected current events to history
Joel had predicted the coming of the Spirit
Joel had considered this to be a cataclysmic event
5. He focused on Jesus’ ministry, death & resurrection
He appealed to factual evidence
He appealed to the power of Jesus
6. He showed his agreement with respected authorities
He showed his agreement with Joel
He showed his agreement with David
7. He made a bold declaration and let God move hearts
He declared Christ Lord and Christ
He didn’t ask for a response
8. He was available to lead those who responded
He knew what was necessary for them to be saved
He knew that this was bigger than any 1 of them
9. He stressed the urgency of the situation
He put in the effort worthy of the urgency
He called out the world for what it was
