Ezekiel 8-11
A Second Vision
Bad things he saw
The Glory of God was sharing space with the image of Asherah! (8:1-6)
Israel’s leading men practicing secret sins in the Temple! (8:7-13)
Women weeping for Tammuz (8:14-15)
Twenty-five men worshipping the sun (8:16-18)
Summary: True worship had been replaced
Judging Jerusalem
The Lord knows those who are true worshippers (9:1-4)
The Lord knows those who are false worshippers (9:5-8)
Failure to truly worship leads to moral failures (9:9-11)
Summary: There were very few true worshippers
The Glory of the LORD was departing from the temple (10:1-22)
A Second Prophecy
A Message of Doom
God knew that the leaders were predicting a bright future (11:1-5)
God didn’t consider the leaders to be part of that future (11:6-12)
Pelatiah was the first evidence of God’s judgment (11:13)
Summary: Jerusalem was doomed
A Ray of Hope
Those remaining in Jerusalem had written the exiles off (11:14-15)
God, on the other hand, was still interested in the exiles (11:16-18)
God would change the heart of the exiles (11:19-21)
Summary: God’s presence was now with the exiles (11:22-25)
