Ezekiel 33-36:15
Ezekiel 33:1-20
Chapter 33 begins a new phase of Ezekiel’s Ministry (see 3:16-27)
1-24 He delivered a message of judgment to Israel
25-32 He delivered a message of judgment to the nations
33-48 He delivers a message of hope to Israel
God uses a parable to comfort Ezekiel & the Exiles (33:1-9)
Ezekiel was still God’s man for the job (33:1)
Ezekiel was only responsible for his own obedience (33:2-9)
Objection 1 Our list of sins is too big
But God doesn’t want anyone to perish
But God is most concerned about the present
Objection 2 That system of justice isn’t fair
But the exiles are too wicked to understand
But God gets to decide what is fair
Ezekiel 33:21-33
A Time of Transition
Ezekiel had experienced 12 years of ‘failed’ ministry (33:21)
News of Jerusalem’s Fall reached the exiles (33:21)
This changed the Exiles’ opinion of Ezekiel (24:25-27, 33:30-33)
A People of Pride
The Survivors had pride in their population (33:24)
The Survivors had pride in their parentage (33:25)
The Survivors had pride in their power (33:26)
Pride comes before a fall (33:27-29)
Ezekiel 34:1-31
The Shepherds and Their Sheep
The Leaders of Israel had failed the people (34:1-10, 18-19)
The Lord Himself would be their Shepherd (34:11-16, 18-20)
The Lord’s True People would be restored (34:17, 21, 25-31)
Ezekiel 35-36:15
From Mountains to Molehills, Molehills to Mountains
The Mountains of Edom would pay the ultimate price (35:1-15)
The Mountains of Israel will rise up again (36:1-15)
