Judges 6:1-35
From Gideon's International...
"Gideon was a man who was willing to do exactly what God wanted him to do, regardless of his own judgment as to the plans or results. Humility, faith, and obedience were his great elements of character. This is the standard that the Gideon's international is trying to establish in all its members. Each man to be ready to do God's will at any time, at any place, and in any way that the Holy Spirit leads."
Week 1 (Judges 6:1-35)
The Pattern
1. Sin 6:1a
2. Punishment 6:1b-5
3. Cry 6:6-7
4. Deliverance 6:8-8:32
The Calling
1. The Lord calls us in our weakness 11
-Things were really bad for Israel
2. The Lord calls us in our work 11
-Gideon hadn't given up, or turned off
3. The Lord calls us to our warrior potential 12
-His name meant this, but he didn't appear as such now
The Doubt
1. Gideon doubted God's existence 13
- I'm here now 14, no self defense. Gideon will understand later.
2. Gideon doubted his expertise 15
- I'm with you 16, no argument (1 Cor. 1:20-31)
3. Gideon doubted the experience 17-18
-I'll assure you 18b, Gideon took step of faith
The Process
1. A right heart 19-24
-peace with God (1st bull sacrificed for his own sins?)
2. A right environment 25-32
-Get away from localized idolatry
3. A right focus 33-35
-There's a mission, Spirit will empower
