The Way of Life (Matthew 7:13-29)
The Gospel According to Matthew
Jesus for President (Part 25: The Way of Life)
“Enter through the narrow gate.
For wide is the gate and broad is the road
that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
But small is the gate and narrow the road
that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Because some don’t want to be sheep
“For everyone who asks receives”
- They find the broad-way too attractive
- They find the narrow-way too exclusive
Because some lead sheep astray
“Watch out for false prophets”
- They don’t critique the audience
- They don’t produce good fruit
- They don’t teach in line with Scripture
- They don’t take the emphasis off miracles
- They don’t come cheap
Because some only think they are sheep
“I never knew you”
- They emphasize doing over being
- They emphasized frills over faithfulness
- They emphasized information over formation
