The Lord's Supper (11:17-34)
The Danger of Church
Paul says there meetings were doing more harm than good! In other words, Paul is saying that a church meeting can become SO bad, that it would be better not to meet at all! We find over the next several chapters that the problems were related to how they were practicing the Lord's Supper and how they were utilizing spiritual gifts.
The Lord's Supper
* the way they were practicing it, it couldn't even really be called the Lord's Supper
Their Practice- Full meal in stages & divided by class
1. Disorderly
2. Inequality
Our Practice- Little ceremony in sanctuary & general equality
1. But not a full meal
Biblical picture- Full meal & Equality
Why Practice it?
1. Obedience
2. Remembrance
3. Presence
4. Prepare for 2nd Coming
5. Fellowship
