4:1-6 (Ministry Temptations)
Ministry Temptations Paul Rejects
1. Secrecy
- Not for a select few
- Financially accountable
- Paul spoke plainly
2. Shameful Ways
- Sinful habits/attitudes
- Some even used Gospel for this
- Paul's character was obvious
3. Deception
- Emotional arguments
- Fancy rhetoric
- Paul just spoke the truth
4. Distortion
- Watered down message
- Utilitarian mindset
- Paul preached w/o compromise
5. Super-self
- Win people to self
- Charismatic personality
- Paul won people to Christ
If your ministry is so pure and true...
Why doesn't everyone accept it?
--> Satan has blinded minds
--> That's why other 'ministers' resort to other means to get results
--> Paul, though, depends on the miraculous move of God (6)
