The Yeast of the Pharisees
“Be on your guard against the yeast of the
Pharisees, which is hypocrisy” (Luke 12:1)
*Context 11:37-46 --> Hard to worship w/hypocrites

The Yeast of the Sadducees
“A wicked and adulterous generation
looks for a miraculous sign” (Matt 16:4)
*Signs all around you! (Doubt)

The Yeast of Herod
“Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees
and that of Herod” (Mark 8:15)
*Worldly Priorities

Power- He was a politician
Pleasure- Matt 14:3 (brother's wife), wanted Jesus to put on a show
Paycheck- Mark 12 taxes
Prestige- Acts 12:21-23
* These aren't bad things in and of themselves, but can't be priorities for God's people

The Old Yeast
“Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a
new batch without yeast” (1 Corinthians 5:7)
*Immorality

“You who are trying to be justified by law have
been alienated from Christ” (Galatians 5:4)
