Jesus for Gentiles? (15:21-39)

Jesus for President (Part 44: Jesus for Gentiles?)
Leaving that place, Jesus withrew…
Jesus had just warned the disciples to ‘leave them’ (referring to the Pharisees and teachers of the law who were rejecting Jesus, 15:14) and here He physically demonstrated that leaving.
Q Does Jesus have any reason to depart from us?
- When we focus on tradition
- When we focus on the external
- When we focus on what others don't do instead of our own hearts
To the region of Tyre and Sidon…
It is hard for us to imagine how shocking it would have been for some devout Jews for a would-be-Messiah to enter into Gentile territory and engage with Gentiles.
Q Do you know an area that needs Jesus’ ministry?
A Canaanite woman…
By the end of the passage, this Gentile woman had her faith complimented and her request granted.
Q What can we learn about faith from this woman?
- Desperate
- Persistent
- Humble
- High view of Jesus' power
Into the Region of the Decapolis (Mark 7:31)…
Earlier Jesus had miraculously fed a large Jewish crowd, but here He demonstrates the same concern for a predominately Gentile group.
Q Do you know anyone in need of leftovers?
-12 for the 12 tribes?
-7 for the 7 hills?
