The Betrayal (26:1-30, 27:3-10)
Why did Judas betray Jesus?
Option 1 He didn’t (Gospel of Judas)
Option 2 Satan (Luke 22:3-4, John 13:27)
Option 3 Fate (Matt 27:9-10, Acts 1:16, 20)
Option 4 Money (John 12:4-6, Matt 26:15)
Option 5 Disappointment/Impatience (Matt 27:3-5)
* In my opinion, while Satan did have an influence, it is the combination of 3&4 that explain why Judas betrayed Jesus
Your 3 Enemies
The Fallen World
Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and they plotted to arrest Jesus in some sly way and kill him (Matt 26:3-4)
Your Fallen Heart
Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over
(Matt 26:14-16)
The Devil
Then Satan entered Judas (Luke ??:3)
Satan entered into him (John 6:27)
But be not depressed! God can overcome the world, your heart, and the devil!
Negative peer pressure (world) can be conquered by positive peer pressure (church)
God is a master surgeon, able to give you a new and clean heart
We have access to victory over Satan through the work of Jesus Christ
